Abuse and Women with Disabilities
The prevalence of abuse among women in general has been fairly well documented, yet only a few North American studies (review by Sobsey, Wells, Lucardie, & Mansell, 1995), primarily from Canada, have examined the prevalence among women with disabilities.

Abuse Protection Home
Advocacy program providing a complaint and inquiry process to register complaints about residential facilities or persons residing in them.

Adult Protective Services
This program is designed to respond in critical situations to a request for assistance of residents 60 years of age or older and to disabled residents. The program offers assistance to residents who are in situations of abuse, financial exploitation or those who need protection of their rights.

Adult Protective Services
The Adult Protective Services Act was created in 1993 to fulfill the need for specialized programming for vulnerable adults who need protection and are unable to protect themselves or who need assistance in dealing with an abusive, neglectful or exploitative situation.

Responds to reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation after screening referral for appropriateness. Conducts in-home assessment to evaluate allegation and deferred level of functioning and risk.
